I’ll be offering a new photography course through the Pomona Valley Art Association in June. At four weeks it can be an introduction or a refresher to what I call “real” photography. Like many photographers, black and white was my first introduction to a new way of seeing the world. I hope to be able to pass on my enthusiasm and possibly open up a new way of traveling on your own photographic journey. Hope to see you on Monday June 6th.
I recently went to a great photo exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown Los Angeles. The work reveals mindfulness in the decisive moment. While these may be trendy words in today’s art vernacular, the impressive fact is that these beautiful black and white images were created from 1920 to 1940. I highly recommend seeing the exhibit. It runs through June. Making Waves
At the end of the exhibit, the curators had placed a table with a collection of objects,ie. blocks, silk flowers, baskets and a single halogen lamp in a small reflective housing. The text encouraged you to arrange the objects in response to having just experienced the exhibit. These are two of my images.
I will be offering a new Photography course at the Pomona Valley Art Association’s new Art Place located in the Montclair Plaza.
The class topic is Closeups in Nature. We’re right at the beginning of Spring, so I hope it will be appropriate. The course could offer assistance to painters who paint from their photographs.
Class meetings will be on four consecutive Mondays starting Monday April 4.
The class will meet from 5-8PM.
Topics will include:
Equipment choices
Composition
Alternative Post Production Techniques
Weekly Work Reviews
There will be one field trip to the Santa Ana Botanical Gardens in Claremont.
Course fee is $100 Payable the first meeting
I will be offering a new class on Composition on March 10th.
The class will meet from 5-8PM on four consecutive Thursday evenings.
The location will be the new Pomona Valley Artist Association’s education center located in the Montclair Plaza, in Montclair.
The course will provide all photographers, from beginners to experienced, an insight into how to create better pictures as the result of better composition.
Each week there will be a review/feedback for each student’s images.
Course fee: $100 (payable the fist meeting)
